+5 lbs Overnight ?!?!?!?!

I know it’s been awhile since I last blogged, but I’ve been plugging along at losing weight for 9 months now and thought I pretty much had it all figured out.  That is, until I got on the scale this morning.  I gained 5 frigging pounds overnight.  I’m hoping it’s only water weight as I only drank 2 pints of water instead of my usual 5-6 pints yesterday.  I had to shorten my workout yesterday and went a little over on my WW points, so I had expected no gain/loss or even a gain of 1-2 pounds , but 5 pounds?!?!  I’m not letting this set me back, nor am I really freaking out, I guess I’m just looking for confirmation on my suspicion.  Any other ideas?

There are different reasons for seeing sudden increases. For, us, womanfolk, a sudden hormonal-driven gain is expected around the monthly period. The other one is having a scale that mulfunctions (either a dial one that doesn’t zero in, or a digital with a battery running low).

The other reasons are a small buldge, when you did eat more than normal; that usually dissipates within a week once you are back on track.

The bad one is the ‘latent’ gain that is the composite of tipping the balance the wrong way for a week or two. Say, if you are on the + 100 calories side every day, eventually, your body will react by gaining. The body is conservative, so it will wait a bit, and then the weight will jump up.

Just analyse your routine, see if you are excersising enough for what you eat (remember, you have to increase the intensity/duration of the excersise as your weight drops to account for less calories burned on the same activity).

Cheers, wait a day and see what’s up. Just don’t try to starve yourself, that’s the worst thing you can do.

Yes- don’t weigh yourself every day!! Once a week!
