Friday Funny

Just had to share this:

A woman goes to the doctor for her yearly physical.

The nurse starts with certain basic items.

‘How much do you weigh?’ she asks.

‘115,’ she says.

The nurse puts her on the scale.

It turns out her weight is 140.

The nurse asks, ‘Your height?’

‘5 foot 8,’ she says.

The nurse checks and sees that she only measures 5′ 5′.

She then takes her blood pressure

And tells the woman it is very high.

‘Of course it’s high!’ she screams,

‘When I came in here I was tall and slender!

Now I’m short and fat!’

Flour and Water

How come when you mix water
and flour together

you get glue?..

and then you add eggs
and sugar…

and you get cake?

Where did the glue go
?

NEED AN ANSWER?

You know darned well where it went!

That’s what makes the cake

Stick to your BUTT

We all need a good laugh, keep on smiling

WTF

Okay, so with Labor Day weekend coming up, I’ve been working extra hard and really watching what I eat.  I figured if I lose 3-5 pounds during the work week, I would still be able to post a loss for the week even if I had a “bad” weekend.  So, as of yesterday morning, I had lost 4 pounds, but then I get on the scale this morning and all @#$*(&%!^ four pounds were back.  I even skimped on my points yesterday and added an extra 1/2 mile to my evening walk.  I fully expected the scale to be down at least a 1/2 pound, not back up the 4 pounds I worked so hard to lose.  I have an old scale, so I even got off and on 3 times to make sure it was correct.  I know about the whole muscle weighs more than fat, but it is so frustrating, but I guess one thing to be proud of is the the old me would have said “f*** it” and gone for some comfort food.   The new me says, “f*** it, I guess I’ll just have to work harder.”   btw - please forgive my offensive language, but I curse like a sailor when I’m upset.  :)

buddy slim theme song?

Sing along with me everyone….

“One Step At A Time”

Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you’ve always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can’t touch

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you’re gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you’re feeling more and more frustrated
And you’re getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus:]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There’s no need to rush
It’s like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It’s gonna happen and it’s
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You’re confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you’re gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you’re feeling more and more frustrated
And you’re getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]

When you can’t wait any longer
But there’s no end in sight
when you need to find the strength
It’s the faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time.

I just love this song because it reminds me that this weight loss is not going to happen overnight, but if I keep plugging away at it, I will succeed!

Being real

So if I’m going to be completely honest with everyone here, then I have to be completely honest with myself and only post my weight on my official weigh-in day.  For me that’s Monday.

I’ve been posting anytime the scale went down, but not showing weight “gains.”  For example had I posted last Friday, I would’ve ticked another pound off my weight, but then for Monday’s official weigh in, I would have been back to 219.  It’s still a loss for the week, but only 2 pounds instead of 3.  I’m sooooo tempted to post my 2-1/2 pound overnight loss, but with Labor Day weekend coming up, I know that number may change by next Monday’s official weigh in.

Don’t get me wrong, I have lost 20 pounds (only 9 pounds show on my weight ticker because 11 of those pounds were lost before I found this website - honest I swear!), but I can’t keep posting a weight loss every few days, unless I also start posting my weekend weight “gains.”  Right?

Feeling good

Good morning everyone.  I had a pretty good weekend.  We went to a birthday party for my grand-aunt yesterday and everyone was commenting on how much better I looked.  I’m telling you, there is nothing like a little recognition to keep you going!

So, that makes 20 down, only 80 more to go!

Oops!

Okay, today I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of a balanced diet.  Yesterday, I had very few proteins.  On top of that, I really pushed myself on a walk last night and during my workout this morning.  So I’m standing there in the shower and I can feel it coming.  That swimming head feeling.  I sat down in the shower, and at first I started to feel better, but then it started to get a little worse, so, then I laid down in the tub.  Still kept getting worse.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I passed out.  Before doing so, I called my husband, who in turn called the paramedics.  While he was on the phone with 911, I came to and started to feel much better.  I told him to cancel the paramedics, but it was too late.  Of course, we live 2 minutes from  the fire station, so they showed up before I even had a chance to finish rinsing off (how embarassing, but since I was up and moving and able to communicate with them, they were kind enought to give me a minute to get dried off and get a robe on real quick.  Long story short, BP and blood sugars are normal, so I continued on with my day and am now at work.

Of course, it is more than just skipping protein yesterday.  Like I said, I have been pushing myself really hard during my workouts/walks and have not been getting much sleep.  So tonight  I will be going to bed early and will skip my evening walk (maybe).

Many mini goals

I decided when I started this weight loss journey that since I have A LOT of weight to lose, I better set many mini goals.  Since I am a knitter, I decided that for every 20 pounds gone, I would treat myself to a skein of expensive cashmere yarn.  When I reach my final goal, I should have at least 5 skeins, which should be enough for a project.  So, this weekend, I get to by my first skein.  Yep, that’s right, I have now lost 20 pounds!

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH

This doesn’t really have anything to do with weight loss other than I hope my frustration doesn’t lead me to comfort food.

Why is it that EVERY time I want to take an “unscheduled” day off someone else has some freaking “crisis” that prevents me from doing it??????

Okay, I vented…I feel a little bit better now.  :)

I did it!

I did it everyone.  I managed to survive the weekend without gaining back any of the weight I had lost!

And, I didn’t even deprive myself.  We went out Friday night as planned.  I had a seafood linguine dish with a spicy marinara sauce, but I only ate half of the entree that evening.  I boxed up the other half and had it for dinner last night.  Saturday, we went to the block party.  I sampled a bite of almost everything I wanted, including a brownie.  The block party was in our old neighborhood, and it felt so good to have everyone commenting on my weight loss.

Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions and support.  Y’all are the greatest!!

Help!!

Okay, I’ve had a great week so far and REALLY don’t want to blow it this weekend.  My only problem is that temptation will be everywhere.  My husband, a pasta junkie (nickname, “The Carborater”) is taking the boys and I to Carrabba’s Italian Grill this evening.  Have you seen their menu??? As if that weren’t bad enough, we have block party to attend tomorrow.  Every single person in the neighborhood was blessed with a “normal” metabolism, so they usually bring really tasty “bad” foods.  I plan on bringing a heathy meal, but as I said, temptation will be everywhere (both tonight & tomorrow), so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
